Edward Lichtenwald's Obituary
Edward Lichtenwald, age 83 of Oshkosh, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Bethel Home in Oshkosh. On June 16, 1925 he was born in Oshkosh, the son of Christian and Anna (Meyer) Lichtenwald. Ed worked as a grader operator for the City of Oshkosh and Winnebago County for a total of 37 years. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army from December, 1943 to May 1946 in Europe. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the VFW Post #1908 and he enjoyed woodworking and NASCAR racing. He was also an avid Packer fan. On October 25, 1947 he married Jeanette Selenka in Oshkosh. She survives along with his daughter: Lucy (Gary) Lemiesz of Oshkosh; his two sons: Michael (Jane) Lichtenwald of Oshkosh, Edward (Darrell DeRochier) Lichtenwald of Emonds, WA; two grandsons: Scott Lemiesz of Oshkosh and Todd (Kelly Carter) Lemiesz of Asheville, N.C. His parents, one brother: Adam and three sisters: Ann, Mary and Emma preceded him in death.
Private family services will be held. Private burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be made online at www.fissbillspoklasny.com
