Edwin Schettl's Obituary
Edwin John Schettl, 82 of Winneconne, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at Omro Care center with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 5, 1930 in Oshkosh the son of Frank and Anna Lemberger Schettl. On October 1, 1955 he Married Margaret Schuhart at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Ed served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S Army as a instructor with the Mountain Cold Weather Training Command. He was employed for 20 years at Badger Lumber and for 26 years as a Machinist at Rockwell International. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Winneconne. He loved fishing and watching Swallows at his home on the lake, Polka music on the weekends, meeting his Army buddies Al and Vic three or four times a year and meeting his cronies at the local Pub on Sundays after Church. Ed is survived by his wife Margaret of Winneconne, His brother, Ralph Schettl of Oshkosh and his sisters, Dolores (Harold) Kind of Fond du lac, Anna (Cliff) Frank and Betty Jane Brooks of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother in law Florence and Ben Berndt , his brother Leonard Schettl and his brother in law Lionel Brooks and sisters in law Alice Schettl and Dorothy Schettl. and survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ed will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Noon in the Poklasny Funeral Home, Sr Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 10am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a Memorial has been established to the Humane Society, St. Mary's Church and Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.
