Elaine F. Yarne's Obituary
Elaine F. Yarne, age 93, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at Evergreen Retirement Community on Saturday, October 20, 2012. She was a long time resident at Evergreen and spent many happy years there under their wonderful care. Elaine was born on February 7, 1919 in Milwaukee, WI. She was the only child of Francis Cygmanski and Anton Lijeski. She attended and graduated from Pulaski High School in Milwaukee and worked for a time at the Wisconsin Telephone Company. Elaine had the natural ability as an artist and did many oil paintings as a young woman. Several of her paintings still exist and remain with her children. She eloped to Kentucky and was united in marriage to her husband John L. Yarne in 1939. They lived in Ohio, where Victor and Jeffery were born, and then moved to Michigan where Donna was born. After settling back to Wisconsin, their son, Andrew was born. Elaine was a devout Catholic by faith and spent much of her time reading the Bible and going to church. While at Evergreen, as she advanced in age, she acquired a wonderful friend, Donna Lucas, who faithfully visited with her and helped her to participate in various activities; they spent many happy hours together.
Survivors include her four children, Victor Yarne of Tucson, AZ, Jeffrey Yarne of San Francisco, CA, Donna Kopitzke of Hudson, WI and Andrew Yarne of Marion, IA. She is further survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1970.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. with the Rev. Fr. William Van DeKreeke officiating. Inurnment wil be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
