Eleanor Marion Drexler's Obituary
Eleanor M. Drexler, age 93, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 17, 1922 a daughter of the late Edward A. and Hazel (Fowler) Bahr. Eleanor met the love of her life Reuben Drexler at a dance at the Eagle’s Ballroom on September 13, 1940. They were married on August 28, 1945. Reuben preceded her in death on October 6, 2014 after 69 wonderful years of marriage. She was a lifelong member of First English Lutheran Church and was very involved in church activities, quilting, Bible study and she and Reuben did lots of volunteering at Bethel Home together. She greatly enjoyed bridge club and ballroom dancing. She and Reuben spent many weekends at the trailer at Little Silver Lake. Her favorite times were those spent playing holiday games with her family, along with getting together with her two sisters.
She is survived by and her memory will be cherished by three sons, Larry (Mary) of Shreveport, LA, Steve (Jill) of Baraboo, WI, John (Karen) of Greenfield; a daughter, Chris (Ron) Hasselbacher of Neenah; a sister, Jean Wohlt; seven grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Todd, Connor, Rian, Elizabeth and Sam; two step-grandchildren, Maurica and Maggie; a great-grandson, Collin; nieces and nephews, Sally, Mike, Ann Marie, Bobbie and Russell. She is further survived by other relatives and friends and a special cousin, Barbara Philipp. She was preceded in death also by a her older sister, June.
Funeral services for Eleanor will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh with the Rev. Tim Greenwald and Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Burial will be next to her beloved husband Reuben in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established. She was truly an angel on earth. “I love you all, may God bless and comfort you”
