ELLEN J HOHENWALTER's Obituary
Ellen J. Hohenwalter, age 76, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born in Oshkosh on Friday, March 15, 1940, the daughter of Harvey and Ruth Flack Conger. Ellen married George Hohenwalter in Oshkosh on Saturday, July 31, 1965. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2012. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She was an administrative assistant for many years before retiring in 1995. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She suffered a debilitating stroke at the young age of 60 and will be remembered for her grace, patience, bravery and determination in dealing with adversity. Prior to her stroke she enjoyed playing piano, painting, doing crossword puzzles and reading her many books
Ellen is survived by her mother; Ruth Conger, of Oshkosh, one son; Kevin (Barbara) Hohenwalter, Omro, two daughters; Jill Hohenwalter, Oshkosh, Ruth (John) Marx, Oshkosh, one sister; Marilyn (Michael) Wegner, Oshkosh, two uncles; Gene (Ginny) Conger, Donald (Nancy) Conger, one aunt; Adeline Strasser and family friend Jane Liebenstein. She is further survived by many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; Harvey Conger and infant son; Timothy.
Funeral services for Ellen will be held in Fiss and Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven) on Saturday, January 14 at 11:00 with the Rev. Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial in her name will be established.
