Esther M. Langkau's Obituary
Esther M. Langkau, 86, of Oshkosh, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center. Esther was born on December 13, 1926, in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late Matthew and Mary (Friedl) Ebersberger. On July 26, 1943 she married Joseph J. Langkau. They shared and enjoyed 49 years together until his passing on June 8, 1992. She was a lifelong resident of Oshkosh who loved her city. Esther volunteered regularly at the EAA Air Museum and Oshkosh Grand Opera House and enjoyed meeting new people. Esther was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made sure they never left her house empty-handed. She was an avid reader who loved traveling, dancing, dining out, and a good joke. She could not resist a great rummage sale or entering a raffle. She is survived by and her memory will be cherished by her partner and friend of many years, Arthur Howard, a brother Matthew “Sonny” Ebersberger (JoAnn), a son, Thomas Langkau, (Lani), grandchildren Jeff Bloechl (Catherine) and Danielle (Mark) Herro, Travis Langkau, Aeryn Howard (Eric) and great-grandchildren, Jesica, Tessa, Nick, Julia, Christopher, Taylor and Bailey. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn, a daughter, Sharon Bloechl. Esther is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Funeral services for Esther will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Ave. in Oshkosh. The Rev. Fr. Matt Simonar will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Oshkosh. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of floral expressions, memorials in her name may be made to the Grand Opera House in Oshkosh.
