Ethan James Koerner's Obituary
Ethan James Koerner, age 43, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 3, 2015. He was born August 24, 1971, in Green Bay, WI to Sharon M. and James S. Koerner. Ethan attended Oshkosh North High School. On October 13, 1990, he married Valerie Henning, whom he loved very much, and together they had a son, Nicholas James.
Ethan lived for his son. They enjoyed playing video games and watching movies together (especially Arnold). Ethan liked to collect Transformer figures, swords, and comic books for his son. For 30 years Ethan struggled with health issues, many times returning from the brink of death. He dealt with diabetes, organ transplant, triple bypass, parasitic infections, and dialysis. Ethan was his mother's hero, because with all his problems and suffering he could still smile, crack a joke, and worry more about his family than himself. Now he is finally free from pain.
Ethan is survived by his son Nick (Jennifer Horejs), mother Sharon Koerner, father James (Diane) Koerner. He is further survived by his brother Monte (Maria) Koerner whom he greatly loved and admired, his sister Shenlee (Chris) Sires, and Andrea (Nick) Nowak, whom he kept near to his heart, his half brother Severin Koerner and half sister Ashley Koerner. Ethan had nieces Kaitlyn, Madeline, Cheyenne, and Nora, nephews Kiefer and Monte II (MJ) who enjoyed playing video games with Ethan every holiday season during visits. Elizabeth Mueller was Ethan's good friend. They enjoyed cooking together. Our family pets, a cat Aphrodite, and dogs Halo, Kira, and Maggie will miss the many back rubs he would give them often. The world is a better place for Ethan having been a part of it.
Our family would like to thank all his doctors and nurses, most recently those at the Dialysis Center at Aurora Clinic in Oshkosh, WI.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 4pm at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home in Oshkosh. Rev. Tom Willadsen will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 2pm until the time of service. Private family committal services will be held.
