Evan R. Giese's Obituary
Evan R. Giese, age 95, of Oshkosh, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Eastbrooke Manor. He was born on March 9, 1917 in Waupun a son of the late Ernest and Regina (Knorr) Giese and graduated from Waupun High School. He married Pauline Oswald on November 6, 1954 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He worked as a Store Manager for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company for almost 40 years. Prior to marriage, Evan spent time in England, France and Germany serving with the 1174th Quartermaster Company, 309th Service Group, which serviced the Air Fighter Group of the US Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight of the Waupaca Council. He also belonged to the Fox Valley Rosemallers Club and enjoyed traveling, playing cards and tending to the garden. Evan was a longtime member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and volunteered at Franciscan Courts for many years. Evan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Pauline; and his children, Gregg Giese of Virginia and Mary Giese of Appleton. He is further survived by cousins, other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Evan on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr. in Oshkosh. The Rev. Fr. Doug LeCaptain will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund will be established.
