Father Casimir R. Kutiuk's Obituary
With faith in the Resurrection of Jesus, we offer our prayers for Reverend Casimir Kutiuk who entered eternal life Monday, December 24, 2018, at the age of 94
Father Casimir was born in MacDonald, West Virginia to the parents of Peter and Karolina (Szajna) Kutiuk on Mary 30, 1924. He and his family lived in Poland from 1927-1947, including two year of Nazi rule and four years of Soviet occupation. After moving to the United States, he attended seminary high school and college at St. Mary’s in Orchard Lake, MI and graduated in 1953. He then studied at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake and was ordained by Bishop Stanislaus V. Bona on June 1, 1957.
Fr. Casimir’s first appointment was as a chaplain for Community Hospital in New London and then as assistant pastor for three years at Holy Rosary Parish in Kawaunee after which he served for two years at Ss. Peter and Paul in Green Bay. In 1961 he was appointed assistant pastor at St. Mary Parish in Manitowoc which included serving as chaplain for St. Mary Hospital in Kewaunee. In 1964 he had a six month assignment as administrator for Sacred Heart Parish in Two Rivers and then served for three years as assistant pastor at St. John Parish in Menasha. He then was briefly appointed Administrator at St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in Armstrong Creek before being appointed pastor at SS. Cyril and Methodius Parish in Eaton where he served from 1967-1979. In 1979 he was appointed pastor of St. Mark Parish in Redgranite with a mission at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Poysippi. After 15 years of service at St. Mark’s and Sacred Heart, Fr. Casimir was granted senior status in 1994.
Reception of the body will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. Jude Parish (St. Vincent Church on the corner of South Park and Oregon.) Visitation will continue until 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Liturgy, expressing our faith and our hope in the promised glory of the Lord’s Resurrection, will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop David Ricken as Celebrant and Homilest. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Oshkosh.
