Our beloved Aunt Flo entered into eternal rest on the evening of 16 November 2018. Florence Elda (Stueber) Blechl, of Oshkosh, WI passed away at an assisted living facility, Country Villa in Omro, WI. She passed peacefully in her sleep. She was 108. The cause of death was old age.
Flo was born to the late Arthur G. Stueber and Hattie (Butt) Stueber on March 17, 1910, in the city of Deerbrook, WI. Florence married Antony Blechl on 17 June 1931, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oshkosh. They owned and operated Blechl Tavern on the corner of Minnesota St. And 6th Avenue from 1947-1965. After graduating from high school, Florence took her first full time job in 1928 with S.S. Kresge Company working in the lace department making $12 a week. Florence will be especially remembered for her quick wit, spirit of adventure, willingness to help others in whatever way, and the tenaciousness that allowed her to achieve in many diverse endeavors throughout her life. She had an unforgettable smile and contagious happiness. Flo always looked outward and focused on improving the lives of everyone she knew. Her spirit, strength and laughter will live on in the lives of her cherished friends and family. She will be sorely missed.
Florence especially loved working in the garden, caring for, and yearly populating, her Geraniums. Florence was also an avid player of poker and Sheepshead. If her passion for playing cards was any indicator, her brothers and sisters probably welcomed her to heaven with a rousing game of either card game. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she touched in so many ways throughout her memorable life. Special thanks to Judy Stueber, Flo caregiver, for the special warmth, joy and love she provided during the past several years. The family would also like to thank Father Bill, Judy and Hank Weyers, and Mary Sibley for the many years of help and friendship. In addition the family would like to thank Affinity Hospice and the staff at Country Villa Assisted Living for the wonderful and loving care she received during her time at the assisted living facility.
Survivors include her sister Alice Hardel of Oshkosh, WI., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Florence was preceded in death by her loving husband Anthony in 1970, two brothers and their wifes, Milton and Leon Stueber, Merle (Pete) and Frances Stueber, two sisters and their husbands Olive and Elmer Brusberg, Lucile and Arthur Heinzl, and brother-in-law Clyde Hardel all from Oshkosh, WI.
