Deepest condolences to Ellen and the Pagano family. Frank was a special man who went out of his way for others. His heart was as big as his smile. As a very young child, I was in need of a blood transfusion after severe bleeding when I got my tonsils out and Frank who was a policeman in Kodiak, a friend of my dad and totally afraid of needles, gave that blood to save my life. In later years, we became friends in the native political arena where I was able not to only see his love for people in general but a strong love for his native people and what was in their best interests. He was never a man to give up. God be with you my friend, you will be missed and never forgotten.
Condolences and prayers of comfort for your family. Though I am certain Frank and I traveled in some of the same 'Guard' circles, I did not meet him until I went to work for General Pagano - which in and of itself was a wonderful experience. Frank and I would have occasional opportunities to work together on veterans activities and it was a true privilege and pleasure to be on that team with him - there wasn't a time that I didn't feel uplifted, encouraged, and better for having been with him and around him. He was a remarkable son of Alaska, dedicated veteran, and so proud of his family, his community, and having been a member of the Army and the Alaska National Guard.
I am so sorry for your loss.He was such a good man. Always smiled and made you laugh with his great sense of humor. He will surely be missed but what great memories I have of him.
