After six years in the Marines, Fred worked for WI Bell Telephone for 35 years retiring in 1982. During his time as a player, Fred became goalie for the Fondy Bears at the age of 16 and protected his last goal at age 70. The highlight of his hockey career was being inducted into the WI Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996. He gave back generously to the sports that he loved, by coaching hockey, holding goaltending clinics, volunteering at Lakeshore to promote youth golf, and maintaining Club 13's South Side Lighted Softball Diamond.
