Garret M. Galica's Obituary
Garret Michael Galica, age 65 of Oshkosh moved on to his eternal home, Friday, August 21, 2015 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born in Oshkosh on May 4, 1950 and was the son of Roman and Lorraine (Clapp) Galica who passed on before him. His Godmother was Irene Banas (deceased) of Dyer, Indiana.
Garret is survived by one daughter Lindsay (Galica) Butt, husband Bryce Butt, grandchildren Katelyn and Madalyn all of Oshkosh. Son, Kyle Galica of Oshkosh. Son Grant (Brandi Deptula) Galica, grandchildren Gwendolynn and Aiden of Menasha. Sister Tracy (Kevin) Spanbauer of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Brother Royce Galica of New Holstein, WI. Niece Whitney Washburn (Spanbauer) of Shakopee, Minnesota. Nephews Jarred Spanbauer of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Joshua (Nancy) Galica of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jeremy (Janelle) Galica of Oshkosh. And so many close cousins too numerous to count.
Garret was a gentle, kind-hearted soul loved by many as evidenced by the steady stream of lifelong childhood friends who visited him during his last days. Adored by his children and family, Garret always took his responsibilities as a father, brother, uncle, and cousin seriously and always fulfilled his obligations unselfishly, often sacrificing his own wants and desires for those of others. Never afraid to speak his mind, he nonetheless treated those around him with dignity and respect. Garret served his country admirably as a member of the US Army in Vietnam, and was a true patriot. Some of his favorite things were watching sports, listening to 60’s vinyl albums (The Beatles) on his turntable, his Camaro, giving colorful nicknames to family and friends, and hanging out with his Pug, Bella.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who took precious time to spend with Garret, and to the ICU staff at Aurora Health Center in Oshkosh for their compassionate care during Garret’s time there.
