George Thomas Brennand's Obituary
George T. Brennand, age 98, of Oshkosh, died on Thursday morning, August 30, 2012 in the home where he was born and lived in his entire life. He was born on August 28, 1914, the son of Roy and Susan (Murray) Brennand. George graduated from Oshkosh High School and started working at the Oshkosh Shipping Association, a farm co-op. On February 24, 1943 he joined the US Army and served for four years. He was assigned to the Barrage Balloon Corp. near San Diego, California and trained for the military police in Colorado Springs, Colorado and then in Battle Creek, Michigan. He spent one year in Italy near Naples. When he came home he started farming with his Dad. Overt the years he developed a fine herd of registered holstein cattle. On July 26, 1947 he married Kathaleen Gafney officiated by Fr. John Murphy at St. John Catholic Church in Oshkosh, the couple became life-long members of St. John Catholic Church. George loved to hunt ducks, geese, deer and sturgeon spearing. He belonged to the County, State and National Holstein Association. He was also a member of the Lakeshore Club
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his wife of 65 years, Kathaleen; three daughters, Mary Margaret Wegener of Waukesha, Kathaleen Ann (Price) Zimmermann of Butte des Morts and Eileen Brennand of Oshkosh; two sons, Michael (Teri) and Patrick Brennand; his four grandchildren, Sara, Scott, Rhea and Joshua Brennand; a borther William Brennand; a daughter-in-law, Ellen Brennand and Deanne Brennand (mother of Rhea and Joshua); three nephews Robert (Carol), Donald (Sandy) and Thomas Pederson; two nieces, Joann Pederson Anhalt and Carol (Mike) Pederson Riemer; a sister-in-law, Mary Gafney Vogt (Gerrie); other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norbert; a son, Thomas; a grandson Lee Brennard; a son-in-law, Michel Diener; a sister, Mary Pederson and a nephew, Phil Anhalt.
Funeral services for George will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Avenue with the Reverend Fr. William Van DeKreeke officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Riverside Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
