George Michael Payne's Obituary
George M. Payne, 63, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, August 1, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born on January 27, 1961, the son of the late George and Rose Mary Payne. George was a graduate of Oshkosh North High School. He worked for Castle Pierce and Hoffmaster in his early years, and recently retired from Wisconsin Resource Center.
“Georgie” loved sportscars, especially his Porsche 911, and spent many summer days with the guys at the Road America Track. In his younger years he enjoyed ski trips out West and fishing. He has especially fond memories of his favorite, “Salty” a springer-spaniel who stole his heart, along with other special fur babies over the years.
George enjoyed Family Gatherings and was a proud Uncle who enjoyed mentoring his nieces and nephews, sharing a few wise words of advice every so often. He was a kind-hearted, hardworking guy who enjoyed spending time at Father Carr’s, helping them serve the Holiday meals.
George is survived and will be fondly missed by his 2 sisters: Kathy (Bob) Harris, Patti (Jim) Michelson; 1 brother, Tom (Karen) Payne; Nephews, Tim, John and Ryan Payne and their mother, Becky Payne, Erik (Rachel) Michelson; Nieces, Kristi (Matt) Clover, Cassidy Fontana and Lisa (Lance) Bartels; Aunt Anna Kuhnz. George is also survived by numerous great nieces, nephews and many cousins.
