Gertrude M. Tadych's Obituary
Gertrude M. Tadych, age 101, of New London, formerly of Oshkosh, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2009 in Trinity Terrace in New London. On January 8, 1907 she was born in Bear Creek, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Kuklinski) Rhode. Gert worked for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company as an operator for 48 years. She was a former member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and presently was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (St. Peter site). She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. In her early years she enjoyed golfing and was an avid Packer fan. On September 12, 1928 she married Wallace Tadych in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek. He passed way on July 25, 1988.
Gert is survived by a special niece and her husband: Rosemary and Allen Sasse and other nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Gert was preceded in death by three brothers: Edward, John and Joseph and six sisters: Mary, Martha, Rose, Helen, Anna and Agnes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in the Chapel in St. Joseph's Residence in New London with Rev. Fr. David Lewis as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Oshkosh. Friends may greet the family from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Trinity Terrace and Heartland Hospice for the excellent care they gave Gert.
