Gilbert Stieg's Obituary
Gilbert G. “Gib” Stieg, age 100, of Skokie IL., formerly of Oshkosh, died Thursday December 5, 2013 at his home in Skokie. He was born in Oshkosh on April 6, 1913 the son of the late John and Anna Stoegbauer Stieg. Gib served his country during WW II in The U.S. Merchant Marine. He married Irene Youngwirth in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh on October 19, 1946. Gib was a Packing House Products Broker until the time of his retirement. He was Catholic by by faith.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years; Irene Stieg, of Skokie Il., two daughters; Cheryl (Daniel) Mirkes, Cynthia Stieg, four grandsons; Kipp (Lynnda), Brady (Kimberly), Justin (Megan), Jarrett (Jessica) Mirkes, two great-grandchildren; Jenna Mirkes and Nathan Mirkes. Gib is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother; Leonard Stieg, and one sister Elsie Seaberg.
A Mass of Christain Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 10, at 10:30 AM in St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart worship site) with the Rev. William Van de Kreeke officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the hour of services.
