Gilbert H. Werner's Obituary
Gilbert H. Werner, age 80, passed away May 27, 2016 at his residence. Born May 29, 1935 in Oshkosh, WI, son of Robert M. and Rose Mary (Smith) Werner. Graduated from Oshkosh High School, further education at Oshkosh Wisconsin College. Married Sharon L. (Pohl) on June 23, 1956 at St. John's Catholic Church, Oshkosh. He was employed with Morgan Doors, later Oshkosh Police Department, from which he retired in 1989 after 28 yrs. He also had his personal Snow & Lawn Service. Had served in the Army Reserve.
Survived by wife Sharon, children Lynn M. Werner (Hickey) (Jim), Terri F. Werner, Glenn (Mike) Werner (Wendy), Beth Ann Werner. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, uncle, god-children, and many life long friends. Sister Kathleen Teske, Brothers Richard Werner (Joan), Gene Werner (Sue) Sister-in-laws Joyce Steinert, Sandra Werner.
Loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at their cabin "Pine Field Farm". Where he enjoyed looking for the "largest buck" with his hunting partner, granddaughter Adysun. In earlier years he spent many days building homes with a "Special Friend".
Preceded in death by his infant daughter Patty Jo, parents, Gilbert and Frances Pohl (in-laws), brother Robert Werner Jr., sister Carol Jacobs (husband-Robert), brother-in-laws Charles Steinert, Charles Teske, grand-son Clint.
Gib was also a donor, of tissue.
As he would always say- "I was born, I lived and I died"
Visitation will be held at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh, WI 54904. Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 1-4 pm, service at 4 pm with Rev. Wm Van De Kreeke. Private family committal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to: Wisconsin American Diabetes Association, 375 Bishops Way Suite 220, Brookfield, WI 53005. Or a charity of your choice.
