Gladys Andrasko's Obituary
Gladys Daisy Andrasko, age 92, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday September 11, 2013 at Oakwood Manor in Oshkosh. She was born on March 1, 1921 in Shoreditch, Greater London England the daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen Silverston Westwood. In 1942 she joined the Woman’s Navy in the Naval Intelligence division working at the British Admiralty in Trafalgar Square. She was very proud of the work she did during WW II. Gladys arrived in United States on January 17, 1947. She worked at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh as secretary of the Education Psychology department from 1965 thru 1983. Gladys cherished the friends that she made while there. She enjoyed and was extremely proficient at knitting, sewing, and was a dog lover all her life.
Anyone that met Gladys, never forgot her heavy British accent. She was a very proud member of the War Brides Club of Oshkosh
She is survived by four son; Thomas Andrasko, Dr. Kevin (Mary) Andrasko, Neil (Mary) Andrasko, Bruce (Mary Jo) Andrasko, all of Oshkosh, five grandchildren; Lori (Kirk) Kontny, Steven (Colleen) Andrasko, Susan Andrasko, Jane (Jeff) Ritter, John Andrasko, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gladys will be held in the Poklasny Funeral Home on Sunday September 15, at 5:00 PM with the Rev. William Van DeKreeke officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until the hour of services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society in her name. He family would like to extend a very special Thank you to Kathy for years of friendship and help.
