Gregory J. Jungwirth's Obituary
Gregory J. Jungwirth, age 59 formerly of Oshkosh, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009 in his home in Wauwatosa, WI. On April 8, 1950 he was born in Oshkosh, the son of Florian "Sonny" and Dorothy (Freiberg) Jungwirth. A 1968 graduate from Oshkosh High School, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of New York and a Master of Science Degree in Social Work and a Master of Science Degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, He worked as a licensed practical nurse at Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee. During the Vietnam War he served in the U.S. Army as a 180 Special Operation Medic Operations, the Green Berets and was a medic specializing in burn victims. He enjoyed reading and investing on the computer. He was a quiet. gentle man who loved cats, esepcially his feline companions: "Phoenix" and "Bella."
Survivors include his mother: Dorothy of Oshkosh; three brothers: Richard (Jean) Jungwirth of Green Bay, Ronald (Kim) Jungwirth and James Jungwirth both of Oshkosh; five sisters: Mary Jungwirth, Laurel (Jerry) Madel, Julie Jungwirth, Amy (Steve) Gurlt all of Oshkosh and Margaret (Larry) Siebauer of Menomonee Falls, WI and nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Gregory was preceded in death by his father and his brother: Gary.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, with the Rev. Fr. William Van De Kreeke officiating.
