Harold Frank Doemel, Jr's Obituary
Harold, also known as Junior was born to Harold Doemel Sr. and Shirley Ives on December 10, 1946. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and attended the Oshkosh Public School System. Harold served his country in the US Navy from 1965 to 1969 serving three tours in Vietnam on a naval destroyer. In 1969 he married Carol Scheuermann and had two daughters. In 1997 he married Connie Philipp (Shew) and a son became part of his life.
Growing up on Hickory Lane was an adventure every day for a young boy. Farming, hunting, fishing, swimming, and horseback riding were daily activities. Hunting and fishing continued to be a priority in his life with numerous trips to Colorado, Wyoming, Ontario Canada, duck hunting on the Mississippi, spending time at the family cottage and land on Crane Lake made him most happy. There he could snow mobile, ride the ATV trails, hunt, fish, cut wood, and do repairs on the cottage. In his later years he enjoyed winter vacations in Mexico and Arizona. One of his most enjoyable experiences was when he and daughter Jodi took second place in the Otter Street Walleye Fishing Tournament in 2002. In 2002 he retired from UW Oshkosh after 33 years.
