Harvey Werner's Obituary
Harvey William Emil Werner, age, 95, died peacefully on June 16, 2013 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. He was born on August 5, 1917 in the Town of Black Wolf the only son of William J. and Lydia A. (Naffin) Werner. On June 2, 1945 Harvey and Vera Martha Volkman were united in marriage, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winneconne by Rev. Hoyer. Harvey lived and farmed at their residence in the Town of Black Wolf all of his life. He was employed by Morgan Door Co., for twenty-six years, until his retirement in 1980. Harvey managed the Black Wolf Landfill from 1981 until it closed in 1990. despite his age Mr. Werner was an avid gardener. Each summer he maintained a large well cared for garden. When he was younger he enjoyed trapping, fishing and hunting. Harvey was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh all of his married life.
Survivors include one daughter; Janet (Joseph) Vande Brink, of Ripon, one granddaughter Suzanne (James) Hiltz, Oshkosh, two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Savana Hiltz, of Oshkosh. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years Vera on October 5, 2005, his dad William Johann Carl Werner in 1967, his mother Lydia Amanda (Naffin) Werner in 1973. All are buried at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Funeral services for Harvey will be held in Poklasny Funeral Home (870 W south Park) on Wednesday June 19, at 6:00 PM with the Rev. Jeffrey Duquaine officiating. Private burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 PM.
