Helen M. Nigl's Obituary
Helen Mary Nigl, age 94, of Oshkosh, passed away on January 31, 2018 at Bella Vista. She was born April 18, 1923 on the family farm in Lebanon Co., PA, the 10th of 12 children of Aaron and Agnes (Arnold) Hartman. She was a 1940 graduate of Jonestown High School and worked at Bethlehem Steel factory in Lebanon during WWII.
Helen married Robert Nigl on April 14, 1945 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Lebanon, PA. They moved to Oshkosh that June. Helen was a homemaker and designed the houses her husband built. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, and bingo. After Bob retired, they traveled to all but two states and most of Canada.
Helen is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert; three sons: Thomas (Patricia) Nigl and Charles (Kathleen) Nigl of Oshkosh, Jeffrey (Christine) Nigl of Pewaukee, WI; nine grandchildren: Linae (Jason) Golla, Lauri (Bradley) Van Stone, Matthew (Heather) Nigl, Michelle (Alexander) Marrison, Michael Nigl, Mackenzie (Adam) Guenther, Jessica (Paul) Nylen, Kyle Nigl, Trisha Nigl; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by toddler daughter, Sharon; parents; brothers: Andrew, Miles, Mark (Laura), Walter (Clara), John (Mable), Adam (Clara) Hartman; sisters: Alice (Warren) Wolf, Cecilia (Clarence) Leise, Regina (Alexander) Denisoff, Edna (Joseph) Teiga, Hilda (Roy) Trimble.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude Parish-St. Vincent Catholic Church on the corner of W. South Park Ave and Oregon St. at 12 noon on Saturday February 10, 2018. Visitation will be held at the church from 11am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
