Helen M. Rogers' Obituary
Helen M. Rogers, 95, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully in her home on November 20, 2018. Helen was born to John and Mary (Pable) Meidl. She was born and raised in Oshkosh but being of an adventurous spirit Helen traveled to California after she graduated.
Upon arriving in California, she got a job as a riveter during World War II. She met her husband James Rogers, a marine, at a USO dance. She went on to become a licensed beautician and open her own salon in La Jolla, CA where she worked until she retired. James and Helen raised four children and made many lifelong friends in La Jolla, CA. Upon retirement, James and Helen moved back to Oshkosh.
After raising her children, Helen began to enjoy traveling. She ventured to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Mexico and around the United States. Her loves in life were spending time and laughing with lifelong friends, a daily glass of chardonnay, traveling and spending time with her family.
Helen is survived by her four children Jeff (Kathy) Rogers and Mary Buzzell of San Diego, CA, Tim Rogers and Lisa (Mike) Mathe of Oshkosh. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren Malea (Cesar) Valencia, Erik Rogers, Maiko Rogers, Jason Rogers, Jeremy Buzzell, Carrie (Paul) O’Connor, Amy (Jason) Walter, Courtney (Anthony) Foster, Ben (Heather) Mathe and Jonathan (Emily) Mathe. Helen is also survived by 12 great grandchildren. She is survived by brothers Jack and Tom Meidl and sister Irene Simonsen. Helen was preceded in death by her husband James Rogers, brothers Gerald and Norman Meidl, sister Florence Meidl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude the Apostle parish, St. Vincent site, in Oshkosh on Friday, November 30 at 2pm. Visitation will be held at the church from 1pm until the start of Mass. A reception and celebration of life will follow in the church basement. Arrangements by Fiss and Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home.
