Helen Schuster's Obituary
Helen L. Schuster passed away peacefully on June 18, 2015, at age 94, at Bethel Home. She was born in Oshkosh on March 1, 1921, to Leo and Mary (Jakubowski) Muza and was the oldest of four children. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and High School, followed by Mercy School of Nursing. During World War II she joined the Navy Nurse Corps and was stationed at Pensacola, Florida, then Guam. Upon returning to the U.S. , she married her high school sweetheart, Aloys A. Schuster, on June 18, 1946. They had six children and she worked hard at home for many years taking care of them. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, crafts and later, golf-she spent many happy hours on the greens with her beloved sister Choppy, and her friend and neighbor, Ginny Zellner. She has 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, with three more on the way. Helen was preceded in death in 2011 by her husband, with whom she shared 65 years; her parents; her sister Mary Catherine "Choppy" Rutz; and her brother, John Muza. She is survived by her brother Leo Muza and her children: Mary (Joseph) Cunningham, Dr. William (Beverly) Schuster, Kathryn Payne, Susan (Frederick) Reichenberger, Charles (Angela) Schuster and Thomas (Peggy) Schuster. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brian, Patrick, Michael and Thomas Cunningham; Dr. Laurie Muller, Julie Maslowski, Dr. Susan Schuster and John Schuster; Allison and Michael Payne; Karl Reichenberger, Krista Linder and Marc Reichenberger; Carrie Schmitz, Rev. Daniel Schuster, Kathryn Douglas and Anna Schuster; and her many great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, St. Vincent Church 216 W. South Park Ave. Oshkosh, WI 54902 from 9am until 11am on Wednesday June 24, 2015. A Mass of Christian burial will be held immediately following the visitation celebrated by her grandson, Rev. Daniel Schuster. Private family committal services will be held. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Bethel Home 225 N. Eagle Street. Oshkosh WI 54902.
