IRENE STIEG's Obituary
Irene M. Stieg, age 94, formerly of Oshkosh, died Tuesday March 31, 2015 at her home in Skokie IL. She was born in Oshkosh on August 28, 1920 the daughter of the late Frank and Hattie Smith Youngwirth. Irene married Gilbert Stieg on October 19, 1946 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2013. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh and its National Catholic Foresters. Throughout her life she loved having fun with people of all ages and was involved in many social and charitable activities. All her life Irene would "make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and one is gold”. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl (Daniel) Mirkes, Cynthia Stieg, four grandsons, Kipp (Lynda), Brady (Kimberly), Justin (Megan), Jarrett (Jessica) Mirkes, two great-grandchildren, Jenna, Nathan Mirkes. Irene is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence, Norman, George, Harold and Leroy Youngwirth, and one sister Dorothy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 7, at 10:30 AM in St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart worship site) with the Rev. William Van de Kreeke officiating. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the hour of services. In lieu of flowers Masses and memorials are preferred.
