Irving. W. "Irv" Dahlgren's Obituary
Irving W. “Irv” Dahlgren, age 67 of Oshkosh, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 15, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. On August 21, 1941 he was born in Grand Rapids, MN, the son of Wallace and Shirley (Ollstad) Dahlgren. For 22 years he worked for General Motors in Janesville. His last years before retiring he built Bloodmobiles in Florida. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and served his country in the U.S. Navy. Bowling and fishing were among his hobbies. On August 8, 1987 he married Christine Wolfe in Afton, WI. He is survived by he wife Chris Dahlgren, along with two sons: Keith Dahlgren and Rick Willoughby; five daughters: Ramona-Heather Knorr, Sherri (Cliff) Blumenthal, Julie Ann (Rob) Dyke and Sheila Ditsworth, and Sheila (Brett) Kerst; 16 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two brothers : Tom and Wally Dahlgren and three sisters: Karen (Bob) Swanson, Wendy Strasser and Cindy Crawford. Irv was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: John and one sister: Becky. Irv was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had an extremely big heart always helping others any way he could and putting everyone else ahead of himself. His true joy in life was getting to know and love his grandchildren. He will truly be missed. The family would like the staff at Mercy Medical Center and Affinity Visiting Nurses for all that they did for Irving and his family. Funeral services will be held at 12noon on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W. 9th Ave., Oshkosh with Rev. Tim Greenwald officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10am-12noon Friday at the church. A “Celebration of Life” will follow after the service at the Kerst home at 146 W. 22nd Ave., Oshkosh. Everyone is welcome.
