Jacquelyn C. Wagner's Obituary
Jacquelyn C. (Heyer) Wagner, born at 7:00 pm on July 17, 1929 at St. Mary's Hospital in Oshkosh, WI; she went to meet her heavenly father on December 12, 2016 at the age of 87. She was the only child of Frank and Adeline (Sphatt) Heyer.
On April 15, 1950, Jackie married Leonard L. Wagner (Chummy) and had six children: Victoria Lee, Richard Frank, Cynthia Lee, Steven Lee, James Lee and Michael Lee.
Jackie attended what was now known as Oshkosh High School. She went to beauty school in Milwaukee, WI at the Adel Balau School of Cosmetology where she graduated and returned to Oshkosh.
Jackie's first job was with Martha Manning, where she worked for four years. She then worked for Grace Leader, Neuman's Beauty Salon, and Miss Sheare. She also managed Magic Mirror for two years.
In 1959 Jackie opened her own shop, Nae-Ber-Lee, on Congress and Spruce in Oshkosh. In 1961, she moved her salon to School St. under the name Jackie's Beauty Shop; where she worked ever since. Also during this time she taught at Constance Beauty School from 1962-1963. She had been a working beautician for 63 years, until she retired in February 2010.
In 1974, she entered politics. Jackie ran for city council twice but was defeated. In 1978 she ran for county board and was elected. She served 22 years and designed the flag that is in the County Executive Office, as well as had a local TV show for a short time.
Over the years Jackie has sponsored bowling and slow pitch baseball teams, Jackie's Beauties, Jackie's Old Timers, Jackie's Farm Team, and Jackie's Juniors, where she regularly attended games and encouraged her teams to victory. She also had family events from picnics, banquets, and hayrides, to many other functions for the team's players, wives, and families. In September 2004, Jackie was admitted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Oshkosh, WI.
Jackie is survived by Victoria (Alberto) Sardinas, Cynthia (Lance) Schaefer, Steven (Donna) Wagner, James (Jenny Kiefer) Wagner, and Michael Wagner. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Frank and Adeline Heyer, one son, Richard F. Wagner, one grandson, Mitchell Wagner, and her husband, Leonard L. Wagner. She was called Honeygrams by her 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Poklasny Funeral Home at 870 W. South Park Ave. Oshkosh, WI on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 1 pm. Father William Van De Kreeke will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 11 am until 1 pm.
Jackie (Honeygrams) will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as by the countless lives she has touched throughout her life. She has passed, but her memory lives on.
