James L. Binning's Obituary
On June 29, 2022 James (Jim) Binning was called home to heaven. Born on the 4th of July 1940 to Clifford and Louise Binning, the middle of 3 children, Jim and his siblings; Jeff and Sandra, grew up in Oshkosh WI.
On May 25, 1963 he married his one and only “Sunshine” Joyce Meyer. This union created his greatest pride and joy, his four children; Mimi, Jim (Debbie), Patrick (Bonnie “Bonita”) and Lisa.
At 18, he took over from his father, Binning Feed Mill in Van Dyne, where he was affectionately referred to as “The Mayor of Van Dyne.” He sold the business in 1983 and moved on to his next adventure, joining the Kress Family business in Sherwood Wisconsin, where he was treated like family until the end.
While Jim loved his work, he never forgot about his family. His Grandchildren; James (Erin), Josh (Crystal), Jonathan (Katy), Rachael (Cory), Renae, his Rosie (Rebekah), Patrick, Christian and Laura (Jeanie). His beautiful Great-Grandchildren; Hailey, James, Nadia, Scarlett, his “Jon Girl” Giana, Elena, Jonathan (Bubba), Alistair, Max, Araya, Kimi, Veronica, Jace and Harper. Jim also had some 4-legged “children” Harvey and Clifford, his buddies and bodyguards till the end.
In his 40’s, Jim discovered his bicycle. It was nothing for Jim to bike 40, 50, 100 miles depending on where he was headed. He traveled Wisconsin with his tent and bicycle and sometimes his kids and grandkids.
He enjoyed his PBR and an occasional Gin and Coke. Jim loved to talk and had the unique ability to tell a 15 second story and stretch it out to 15+ minutes. He loved to dance (debatable if it can be called that). Jim did enjoy an occasional trip to the casino. He even ventured to various concerts, always with his family.
Jim loved life and always knew how to live it, he was our Husband, Dad and Grandpa. His family is his legacy and he will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 7, 2022 at 5:00 pm at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904). Fr. Aran Walter will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 pm until the time service.
