James Davies' Obituary
James M. Davies, age 87 of Oshkosh died Sunday, September 1, 2013 in Mercy Medical Center with his wife by his side. He was born April 20, 1926 in Janesville WI the son of the late James and Florence Pickering Davies. He married Margaret Hoyer on August 22, 1956 in Rockford IL. Jim was a Professor and Coach at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for many years. He received the State of WI Governor's Special Award in 1990, the University of WI System Award-Board of Regents in 1990 and the Collage Swim Coaches Association Award in 1975. He was a member of the Oshkosh Sports Hall of Fame and was a member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Oshkosh and his sister in law Verna (Don) Heinicke of Wenatchee, WA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Creutz, Florence Cronin and Joyce Rott. Memorial services for Jim will be Friday, September 6, 2013 at 1pm in the Fiss and Bills Poklasny Funeral Home, the Rev JoAnn Schoblaske officiating. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home Friday from 10:30 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a Memorial has been established.
