James N. Helstrom's Obituary
James N. "Jim" Helstrom, age 79, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Jim was born on January 24, 1938 in Oshkosh a son of the late John an Elaine (Smith) Helstrom. He married the former Faye Marie Luther on January 14, 1961 at St. Vincent Catholic Church. He served in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1964, having attained the rank of Staff Sgt. Jim was diagnosed with COPD in 2002 and lived with it until the time of his passing. Jim greatly enjoyed deer hunting with Ed Luther his father-in-law and brothers-in-law, for many years in Waushara County. He also enjoyed his many years with Faye and the poodles, Daisy and Rosie at their family cottage on Lake Alpine in Wautoma. Jim contracted three family homes during he and Faye's 56 years together, of which he was very proud. He was an offset press operator for Globe Printing Company and UW Madison until his retirement in 2002. Jim Faye have three children, Janet Helstrom of Oshkosh; John and Lori Helstrom of Omro and Jeff and Joann Helstrom of Gaines, GA. He is further survived by three grandchildren, Jeremiah Helstrom, Alex Hussain and Lexie Hussain; three great-grandchildren, Zavier and Carlos Hussain and Victoria Helstrom. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Jolene Faye Helstrom.
Per Jim's request a private Memorial Mass will be celebrated. Fr. Matt Simonar will preside over the Mass. The family would like to Aurora Hospice RN's, Jessica and Heather for their care and support during this difficult time. "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all".
