James "Jim" Henry Grover's Obituary
James ‘Jim’ Henry Grover, Jim, age 87 of Oshkosh, passed away on the 16th of January, 2026 at Parkview Health Center. Jim was born on December 16, 1938 in Fond du Lac to Felix and Helen (Hardgrove) Grover. Jim has an older sister, Mary Kort (Jerry), an older brother, Herbert (Caroline) and a younger brother Thomas (Karen).Jim grew up in Shawano and graduated from Shawano High School. He attended St. Norbert College, Milwaukee School of Engineering and then joined the Army. Jim was Active Duty in the US Army & in Germany. He then went on to enter the US Army Reserves where he completed 20 years of service. Jim also entered into the Wisconsin State Patrol where he became a Trooper and was known as a ‘Bear in the Air’ flying a plane for the state. Jim met his future with, Betty in Shawano & on September 8, 1962 they were married. Jim & Betty spent winters in the south, mostly Arkansas. He loved golfing and a warm climate with friends during their retirement years. Jim also enjoyed hunting & snowmobiling. Jim was an active usher at St. Raphael’s Parish, belonged to the Knights of Columbus as 3rd & 4th Degree, he was active in the Sons of the American Revolution, and also a member of the American Legion. Jim is preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Grover. And his parents, Felix & Helen. Jim is survived by his sister, Mary Kort, brothers; Bert & Tom and many nieces & nephews. His son, David Grover and his daughter Anne (Greg) Francis. Jim has five grandchildren, Matt Grover, Holly (Chris) Barnett, Kelly Grover, Mike Grover, and Jacob Francis, as well as nine great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 11am at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI. Father Thomas Long will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held on Saturday at 9:30 until the time of Mass. Committal services will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery following lunch at 1:30 pm. In Lieu of flowers donations should be directed to Mass intensions at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church at 830 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904. Special thanks to the staff at Aurora Medical Center and Park View Health Center for the wonderful care given to Jim in his final days.
