James (Jim) Peter Schumacher, Jr., age 75, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on September 5, 2025.
Born in Oshkosh on May 12, 1950, Jim was the son of the late James (Jim) P. Schumacher, Sr. and Betty Jane (Malnory). He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Naval Station San Diego, CA. During the Vietnam War, he served as a Storekeeper Second Class (SK2, E-5) aboard the USS James E. Kyes.
After his military service, Jim pursued higher education and earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. On February 24, 1997, he married the love of his life, Gina. Together they shared 28 wonderful years, living in both the city and countryside of Wisconsin, creating a life rich in love and adventure.
Jim built a career as a general store manager for Osco Drug in the Chicagoland area, Green Bay, and Milwaukee. Following his retirement from Osco, he enjoyed working locally as a produce manager at Piggly Wiggly, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many in the community. He treasured time spent with family and friends, and especially loved hunting and fishing with his good friend Scott Wara. Jim will be remembered for his warm smile, his sense of humor, and his devotion to those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Gina; his children: Jim (Jenni) Schumacher III and their children Lucy and Harrison, Ted (Nicole) Schumacher, Annie (Jeff) Letkiewicz and their children Lily and Sydney, and Stephanie (Kiley) Kilkenny. He is also survived by the family of his late daughter Melissa (Cody) Meyer and children Evan, Makenna, Kayhler, and Riley. Additional survivors include his sisters Peggy Schumacher and great companion Annie Fox, and Sandy (Dan) Protz; his brothers Mike (Sharon) Schumacher, Pat Schumacher, Paul (Patti) Schumacher, Dan Schumacher, and Tim Schumacher; his aunts and uncles Dick and Bev Malnory, Caroline (Tom) Schumacher; cousin Roxi Lemieux; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Aurora Hospice team for their compassionate care and support during Jim’s final days.
