James Daniel Luft's Obituary
James Daniel Luft, age 81, of Oshkosh passed away on Tuesday evening September 20, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Oshkosh on March 12, 1935 the son of Daniel and Elizabeth (Lautenschlager) Luft. Jim graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1953. He served his Country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. Jim married Judith Jones on June 22, 1963 at First Presbyterian Church in Oshkosh. He was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church and was the past Master of the Masonic Lodge # 27 in Oshkosh. Jim was employed for PPG for 18 years, he then owned and operated Jackson Glass in Oshkosh since 1972. Jim enjoyed golfing, watching his grandchildren play baseball, swimming meets and watching robotic tournaments. Jim also coached youth softball and football, he enjoyed boating, taking vacations to Arizona and California. But most of all he loved spending time with his entire family. Jim is survived by his wife Judith Luft, two sons; Daniel J (Cindy Marie) Luft and Rod (Patty) Luft all of Oshkosh. Two grandsons; Matthew and Jacob Luft and one granddaughter; AnnMarie Luft, nieces, nephews, other relatives and his daily coffee buddies. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Doris Luft in infancy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church at 400 N. Sawyer St. Oshkosh, WI 54902. Rev Jeff Knoll will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home at 865 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904 from 5 pm until 7 pm with a Masonic Service at 7 pm. Visitation will also be held at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of service. Committal services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh. Jim's family would like to thank the entire ICU staff at Mercy Medical Center for the care and compassion given to Jim. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Jim's name.
