James Carl Sonnleitner's Obituary
James C. “Jim” Sonnleitner, age 78, of Oshkosh, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018. He was born on June 12, 1940 in Oshkosh a son of the late Otto G. and Julia E. (Reischl) Sonnleitner. Jim proudly served his country in the US Navy. He married the former Susan G. Springborn on May 10, 1969 at St. John's Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Jim greatly enjoyed flying and was a member of the Steve Wittman Chapter 252 and was an EAA Docent and was active with the EAA Young Eagles. He was also a member of the Northwest Scroll Saw Wood Workers Association which met at St. Norbert College. Jim was a devoted husband, father and brother who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his wife, Susan of Oshkosh; a son, Joe (Jenny) Sonnleitner of Pickett; three brothers, Donald (Diane), Andrew (Christina) and Allen (Nancy) all of Oshkosh. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends and his beloved springer spaniel, Max. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother and sister in law, Robert (Barbara) Sonnleitner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jim on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00 am in St. Jude Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, (corner of 6th Ave. and Knapp St.) with Fr. Matt Simonar as celebrant. Burial will follow with full military honors in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name may be made to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society or to the EAA Chapter 252 at 1742 Hunters Glen Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54904-8966.
