JANE GERTRUDE MATEJOWEC's Obituary
Jane Gertrude Matejowec, age 87, of Oshkosh, died Saturday June 16, 2018 at Oakwood Manor in Oshkosh. She was born in Oshkosh on April 17, 1931 the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Tennesen Bongert. Jane met James Matejowec in high school and they were married on August 13, 1949 in St Mary’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh, after her graduation from high school and his return from the Marines. Jim and Jane where season ticket holders at Lambeau Field and enjoyed going to Packer games over the years. They lived on Lake winnebago and enjoyed boating. Jane loved to play bingo Friday nights at The Marine Corps. League in Oshkosh. She enjoyed volunteering at EAA during the Air Show, and sang in the choir at St Mary’s, and St Raphael’s in Oshkosh. Jane and Jim were the owner/operators of Kalamazoo Heating and Cooling in Oshkosh, and later she was employed by E.C. Merrill and sentry Foods. Jane was happy to have stayed in contact throughout the years with many of her high school classmates. She was a member of St Raphael’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh.
Jane is survived by three daughters; Lee Ann (Kenneth) Baxter-Lowe, of Novato CA., Lisa (John) Pendergast, Cedarburg WI., Carla (Jesse) Padilla, Oshkosh, four grandchildren; Melissa (Dane) So, Joshua Pendergast, Ashley (Morgan) Wallace, Lindsay (Felipe) Gonzales-Lowe, four great-grandchildren; Teagan So, Finley So, Meredith Wallace, and Avery Wallace. Jane is further survived by a very special companion, Donald Jungwirth of Oshkosh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 19, at 11:00 AM in St Raphael’s Catholic Church with the Rev Thomas Long officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
