Jean Ann Campbell's Obituary
Jean A. Campbell, age 79, passed away after her second courageous battle with cancer on July 4th. Jean was born November 13, 1936 in Oshkosh, WI to William F. and L. Estelle Robl. Jean married her high school sweetheart James G. Campbell and they shared 54 wonderful years together.
Jean graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1954. She was employed by Wisconsin National Life Insurance Company for 29 years until the business was sold and then retired in 1998 after five years employment with United Health of Wisconsin.
Her favorite thing in life was her family and friends and she was always doing special things for them. Holidays always included a well-decorated house, with the most unique gifts each beautifully wrapped, elegant food and the most important thing of all she always had hugs, kisses and the words “I Love You” every time we saw this elegant lady.
Jean was known for always giving and doing for others. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was Secretary of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed assisting those in need, such as sending cards or making tie blankets for shut-ins. She was most proud of starting the “Children in Crisis Program” whereby she and church members would purchase clothing, toys, etc. and deliver them to local hospitals or the Christine Ann Center for children in crisis.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, James G. Campbell, daughters, Cathy (Douglas) Pahlow, and Michelle (Judd) Campbell/Brinkman; 3 grandchildren: Alex and Lauren Pahlow, and Julia Brinkman; sister, Deborah Wiltsey, Brother-in-law Steve (Bonnie) Campbell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents William F. and L. Estelle Robl, her brother, William S, Robl; her in-laws, Ronald & Lucille Campbell; sister and brother -in-law, Barbara & Earl Hendricksen.
Jean valiantly fought her breast cancer for over 4 years for the second time finding strength and courage in her faith and love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. She trusted in God’s providence and will for her life throughout her long journey. May He reward her with His promise of eternal life for His faithful ones.
Jean’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Xin Yao and the staff at Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology, Patty Martins and the staff from Heartland Hospice and the entire staff from the Bridges of Appleton, all for their compassionate care of mom.
Visitation will be at Fiss & Bills Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh, on Tuesday, July 12 from 9:30 to 11:00 am with a service immediately following with Pastor Paul Lidtke officiating. A private family burial will follow. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Jean’s name.
“When we think of you in silence and often speak your name, all that’s left to answer is your picture in a frame. Our hearts are full of sadness, our eyes are full of tears, if only God could have spared you for just a few more years. We know you walk beside us and when our life is through, we pray that God will take our hand and lead us straight to you. Until then, to your grave we’ll go and place your flowers with care. But no one knows the heartache as we turn and leave you there. So one day at a time is the way we will abide until once again we will be walking side by side. “ -Unknown author We love you, Mom, and miss you dearly.
