Jeffrey R. "Soupy" Sales' Obituary
Jeffrey R. Sales (Soupy), 79, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Born in Fond du Lac on June 13, 1945, he was the son of Roger L. Sales and Doris H. (Vollbrecht) Sales. After graduating from Oshkosh High School in 1964, Jeff joined the US Army and served for two years during the Vietnam War. Jeff was known for years by many as the friendly mechanic at Shea’s Muffler Shop in Oshkosh. After the closing of Shea’s, Jeff worked as a machine operator at Bemis until the time of his retirement. Jeff loved nature and enjoyed many outdoor activities. He especially liked seeing and hearing the Canadian geese flying overhead in the spring and the fall. He loved boating in the summer. In his younger years, it would be a rare weekend if you did not see Jeff on the waters of Lake Winnebago. Jeff always had a smile for everyone he met, which led to many great friendships.
Jeff is survived by his sister, Joan Wright (Oshkosh), his forever person, Catherine Stabo (Oshkosh) and his beloved cat, Bob. He will also be deeply missed by Catherine’s daughter and son-in-law, Kaley and Nicholas Conrad and their three boys, Charley, Leo and Teddy (Oshkosh), along with his long-time, good friend, Chuck Steffen (Manitowoc). He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Doris Sales, brother-in-law, Thomas Wright and niece, Lisa Weaver.
A memorial service for Jeff will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, with Military Honors to follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jeff’s name to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
Jeff’s survivors would like to extend their gratitude to the entire team at Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for the competent, compassionate care they provided Jeff in his final weeks.
I will always love you, Jeff, and will miss you until we meet again. Love, Cathy.
