Jerry Eugene WETTERAU's Obituary
Jerry E. Wetterau of Oshkosh passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at Aurora Hospital.
Jerry was born to Walter and Lucille (Ulrich) Wetterau on May 3, 1941 in Oshkosh where he lived his entire life. He attended Boyd School, South Park and then graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1959.
Jerry married Joan Stamborski on November 4, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Joan was the love of his life, they were high school sweethearts and had 59 wonderful years of happiness. Together they raised 2 wonderful and proud children.
Jerry worked for Apell Tile and Teela Zentner Heating until 1973 when Jerry and Joan opened up Oshkosh Trophy which now continues to operate under their two children.
Jerry loved his family and nothing brought him greater joy than the time he spent with them. He taught his children daily the importance of hard work and showed by example how to be a great husband and father. When his children were growing up he supported them in whatever they participated in and the decisions they made. Jerry was involved in Cub Scouts and Club 13. Jerry also coached and sponsored Cub Scout softball, Oshkosh Trophy Womens and Co-Ed teams. He also played softball himself for The Beachcomber, Jackie’s Beauties and Kargus Realty. Jerry was President of Club 13 and served on the Sacred Heart School Board, Booster Club and Ushers Club.
Jerry was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Jerry is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Debra (David) Wetterau-Ruhl, son Jeffrey (Traci) Wetterau, grandchildren Jacob Ruhl (special friend Katie Guyette), Kaylie, Kristin and Katie Wetterau. Jerry is further survived by two sisters Connie Beyer (special friend Bo Weichert) and Jan (Glenn) Wetterau-Houge, sister-in-laws Darleen Wetterau and Rita Gear along with many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents Walter and Lucille, in-laws Ralph and Marie (Binner) Stamborski, brothers James and Tom Wetterau, sister-in-law Mary Jane Wetterau and granddaughter Hollie Carlene Ruhl.
Jerry was an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks fan.
The family would like to give a big thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Theda Care and Aurora Hospital for giving him so many extra years to be with his wife, family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 20, at 11:30 AM in St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart site) with the Rev Louis Golamari and Deacon Pat Gelhar officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour services.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
