Jimmy B. Eason's Obituary
Jimmy Bryant Eason, 83, died February 22, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1936 in Selma, NC the son of Sydney and Lula (Jones) Eason. Jimmy graduated from Selma High School in 1954. Following graduation Jimmy served with the U.S. Army from July 1954 thru April 1977. During this time, he achieved his major accomplishments in this arena most notable receiving the Bronze Medal of Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam from December 1966 thru December 1967 and March 1969 thru March 1970. For his exemplary service, the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism in the Republic of Vietnam was awarded to him on October 14, 1969. Jimmy received and additional sixteen medals of recognition during his outstanding military career. Master Sergeant Eason’s performance of duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Army. Jimmy carried his pride and respect for our military forces and veterans throughout his entire life. After his retirement from the military he worked for Oshkosh Truck Corporation from April 1982 till November 2001. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5278 of Ripon, WI and the DAV. He was also a Scout Master for The Boy Scouts of America.
Jimmy Married Shirley (Doan) Eason September 6, 1963 in Fort Lewis, Washington.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Shirley, his two daughters Judy Lynn Hanson and Pamela Rae Hanson. Four brothers and three sisters Sydney Eason Jr, Joseph Earl Capps, George Edwin Capps, John Daniels Capps, Sydney Faye Grant, Lucille Spencer and Lessie McCarthy.
Jimmy is survived by two children Cynthia (Rick) Gloede and James (Cathy) Eason. Seven Grandchildren Cory Mendes, Melissa Franzen, Noel Mendes, Anthony and Calvyn Eason, Devin Spiczenski and Anne Brescia. Nine Great Grandchildren Katriana and Seth Henry, Carson Mendes, Maxwell and Miles Groeschel, Ariya and Sophia Eason, Peyton Mendes, Christopher Brescia. Special family members Barbara Capps Baker and Jackie Godwin Gross and her family. And many nieces and nephews.
A service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr, Oshkosh, WI. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park after the service.
