JOAN FRANCIS's Obituary
Joan Francis, age 85, of Oshkosh, passed away on Tuesday December 12, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born in Milwaukee on May 4, 1932 the daughter of the late Paul and Mabel Drier Wawrzinski. Joan graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1950, and later graduated from St Vincent’s Pediatric Hospital in Chicago with a degree in nursing. She was employed as a nursing supervisor in Chicago and in private practice in Oshkosh. Joan married Glen Francis in St Peter’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh on September 1, 1956. Until the time of her retirement Joan was employed at Oshkosh North Food Services. Joan enjoyed volunteering at St Peter’s Catholic Church, The Oshkosh Senior Center, Oshkosh Area Humane Society, and many other organizations in the Oshkosh area. She and Glen enjoyed spending winters in St Augustine FL., for over twenty-five years. Joan was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Oshkosh.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years; Glen Francis, of Oshkosh, one son; Gregg (Anne) Francis, Oshkosh, one daughter; Debra (Tom) Mugerauer, Oshkosh, one grandson; Jacob Francis, Oshkosh, and one sister; Barbara Beck, Oshkosh. Joan is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Memorial Mass for Joan will be held on Saturday December 16, at 10:30 AM in Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (St Peter site) with the Rev Jerry Pastors officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
Joan’ family wishes to extend a very special Thank you to the ICU staff at Aurora Medical Center for all their care and compassion in her time of need.
In lieu of flowers memorial’s in her name may given to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
