Joan Mokhtari's Obituary
Joan Mokhtari, age 63, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday August 31, 2016 at Evergreen Manor. She was born in Oshkosh on August 11, 1953 the daughter of the late Karl and Beth Thorndike Feirer. Joan married Shahram Mokhtari in Madison in 1982. She graduated class of 1971 from Oshkosh North High School, from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, class of 1988, and received a Masters Degree from Silver Lake College in Arts and Education, class of 1997. Throughout her professional career she was employed as a high school teacher in Fond du Lac. Over the years she provided respite care for many dogs, enjoyed antiquing, refurbishing furniture, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Joan is survived by one daughter; Rachel (Joshua) Wykle, of Montpelier VT., Shahram Mokhtari, one brother; David Feirer, AZ., one sister; Patti (Dave) Hable, Oshkosh. She was "Gramma Joan" to Atticus Wykle, Jolyon Wykle, and Samuel Wykle. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her step-parents; Rev. William Spicer, LaVona Feirer, one niece; Cathryn Hable, and one sister-in-law; Cara Spicer.
Funeral services for Joan will be held in Trinity Episcopal Church (311 Division Oshkosh) on Saturday September 3, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Chris Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park at a later date. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be given to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
