John Edward DuPrey's Obituary
John Edward DuPrey, age 77, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 12, 2024, at his home in Oshkosh with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Oshkosh on April 7, 1947 to the late Robert J. and P. Vivian (Boylan) DuPrey. John married Carla Rose Anderson on December 30 1971 at the Newman Center in Oshkosh.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years Carla DuPrey of Oshkosh; two sons, Christopher (Angie) DuPrey of Oshkosh and Michael (Wendy) DuPrey of Racine, WI: and three cherished grandchildren, Parker, Avery, and Aiden DuPrey. He is also survived by one sister, Meredith Ann DuPrey of Oshkosh and many other relatives & friends.
He was a hardworking, modest, and brilliant man who enjoyed the simple things in life without much fuss and no desire for accolades. He was born on the same day that Henry Ford died which fostered a lifelong love of Fords. In his younger years, John regularly donated blood & was always ready to help others with his many talents. His favorite saying "Enough is just as good as a feast" reflected his contentment and wisdom.
In retirement, he found his greatest joy in every moment spent with his three beloved grandchildren:
Parker, Avery and Aiden and would create memories that will be cherished forever. He also enjoyed
his trips to Wittenberg to the casino and stopping for lunch afterward. He looked forward to watching the adventures of Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke daily, and he knew all the Beverly Hillbilly episodes by heart. There was always some project (often multiple) he was working on daily as he was not one to sit still very long. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends but his legacy of his love and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A Memorial Mass for John will be held on Wednesday, November 20, at 1 1 AM at St. Jude the
Apostle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart site) with Rev. Louis Golamari officiating. Inurnment will be
in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
