John H. Engelmeyer's Obituary
We are confident and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord II Cor. 5:8. John H. Engelmeyer age 94, entered eternal life on May 14, 2015. He was a faithful husband and loving father and grandfather. He was born on August 31, 1920 in St. Rosa, MN a son of the late Stephen and Mary (VornBrook) Engelmeyer. John came to Oshkosh in 1941 and was employed at the Bell Machine Company for 27 years. He was also a loan officer for Bell Employees Credit Union. John then was employed by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he retired. John built his own home for his family in the Town of Algoma and resided there for over 58 years. On October 18, 1947 he married Beverly Zick at Plymouth Congregational Church, where he was a member. John has served as church elder, trustee and usher. He was an avid bowler for 60 years and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and gardening, he was well known for his wonderful raspberries and tomatoes which he shared with everyone. John volunteered on the Oshkosh Senior Olympics and on the EAA Tram for many years. He enjoyed building many things for his children and was always there to help them when they needed him. John is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his wife of 67 years, Beverly; two daughters, Gale (Mike) Hughes, Pleasant Prairie, WI and Kay Moinski of Oshkosh; a son, Todd (Marge) Engelmeyer of Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, Deanna and Samantha. He is further survived by two brothers, Joe and Peter; a sister, Josephine Rehkamp and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Al and Chris; five sisters, Theresa, Ann, Eleanor, Clara and Mary; a son-in-law, Lee Molinski and a grandson, Timothy John Molinski. Celebration services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015 in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. with Pastor Rick Hopkins officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private committal services will be held at Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6.
