John Haertl's Obituary
John Haertl, age 89, of Oshkosh, died Sunday November 20, 2016 at Eden Meadows in Oshkosh. He was born in Neumarkt Germany on February 9, 1927 the son of the late Johann and Maria (Moosburger) Haertl. John came to the United States in 1951 where he met and married Margaret Griedl in First English Lutheran Church on July 10, 1954. Until the time of his retirement John was employed by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh as a custodian. He enjoyed spending time up north, fishing, camping, and trips to the casinos.
John is survived by his wife; Margaret Haertl, of Oshkosh, three daughters; Linda Yenter, Oshkosh, Christine (Al Schultz) Miller, Oshkosh, Rose (Bob) Wirkus, Oshkosh, one son; Jeffrey (Sharon) Haertl, Oshkosh, nine grandchildren; Chad (Alyssa), Chris (Johanna), Bryon (Sarah) Yenter, Brock, Zach, Alyssa Haertl, April (Cory) Fuller, Autumn (Kenardo) Walker, Colton Miller, ten great-grandchildren, one niece; Irene (Matthias) Zorn and their daughter Katharina. John is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; Michael, Rudi Haertl, two sisters; Luise Meyer, Rosemary, one aunt Sr. Samuella Haertl, and one son-in-law Michael Yenter.
Funeral services for John will be held on Friday November 25, at 12 Noon in Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S Westhaven) with the Rev Timothy Greenwald officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
