John Harper's Obituary
John William Harper, 64, Oshkosh, died peacefully after a courageous battle with Cancer at Cherry Meadows Hospice Facility on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. John was born at Mercy Hospital on October 1, 1952 to George and Mary Ann Harper (O’Neill). John was a jack of all trades and worked in Construction, Machine Operation (Bemis), Maintenance Engineer (U.S. Bank), Bartended and entertained many people at The Nickel (Handles) and The Acee Deucee Lounge. John was an avid hunter and enjoyed playing and coaching softball. John also loved to bowl, rolling a perfect game on 11/06/1998. The past few years, John enjoyed playing cards at his favorite watering hole, The Hill Tavern and watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Kyle Busch.
John is survived by his Daughter, Michelle K. (Sean) Angell, Son, Matthew J. Harper, two beautiful granddaughters Martina J. Angell and MaKayla R. Angell. John was the youngest of 5 children; he is survived by two Brothers, George and Neil Harper, and a sister, Judy (Jeff) Hanson, two godchildren, Preston (Karen) Postl and Mindy (Cody) Young, aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends. John is also survived by the mother of his children, Pam (Patrick) Pawlak and their son, Mark Pawlak.
John is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother Gene Harper, aunts and uncles.
John’s wishes were to have one last party, a celebration of his life. This will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at The Hill Tavern, 8069 County Rd. D, Omro, WI. Please arrive by 2:00pm if you would like to take part in a brief blessing of his ashes and a release of 64 balloons. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Cherry Meadows Hospice Facility, Theda Care Regional Cancer Center, UW Health Clinic and Hospital, Dr. Michael Ray, Dr. Gregory Hartig, and John’s many friends that helped to guide us through this journey.
