John H. "Santa" McLain's Obituary
John H. “Santa” McLain, age 80 of Neenah, formerly of Waupun, passed away peacefully at his home on May 13, 2026, He was born on February 15, 1946 in Oshkosh a son of the late Peter and Nina (Powell) McLain. John was a proud Vietnam Navy veteran having enlisted three days before his birthday and he served in many locations throughout the world. He had worked for and retired from Pluswood Corp. and greatly enjoyed motorcycling and had taken many trips to Sturgis. John was very active donor to any veterans and animal foundations. John was an active member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Neenah. He will fondly be remembered for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by three sons, Cody McLain of Waupun, Darin (Amber) Beyer of Oshkosh and Michael Beyer of Ripon; two daughters, Ann McLain and Katie (fiancee Andrew Evers) Garcia, both of Neenah; a sister, Sharon (Dale) Lawyer of California; a step daughter, Leann Gutknecht. He is further survived by numerous grand and great grand children, nieces, nephews, other relatives and his current loyal companion dog, Dosja. He was preceded in death by a brother Peter; step children, Richard Doemel, Kevin Beyer and Pamela Kuehl; two beloved dogs, Bear and Kitty.
Funeral services for John will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 11 am in Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 3703 Fairview Road in Neenah, WI with the Rev. Jeremy Koehler officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9 am until the time of service. Burial with full military honors will take place at 2pm on Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers memorials in John's name to any veterans organization would be appreciated.
