John F. Paulik's Obituary
John F. Paulik, age 75, of Oshkosh, passed away with his family at his side at his home after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, Jully 28, 2014. He was born on June 15, 1939 in Oshkosh, a son of the late Edward and Hattie (Baczkowski) Paulik. He proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Marious. John married the former Karen Sue Holtz on June 17, 1967 in St. Vincent Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2008. John greatly enjoyed metal working and wood working. He was an electrician for the Local Union # 577. He also enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by two daughters, Jeannie (Lorne) Greer and Tracy Lynn (Paul Bathke) Wells, both of Oshkosh; five brothers, Robert (Janet) of Cable, WI, Jerry (Pat), Hugo (Jan), Ralph, Richard (Pat), all of Oshkosh; three sisters, Sis. Cecile, Beatrice (Jim) Bougie and Elizabeth (Dick) Morgan all of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Krysten “Sarge” (Mario) Vasques, Logan “Buggs” Greer, Michael “Scooby” (Erin) Wells, Tyler “Sheriff” Wells and Hailey Greer; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Nathan and Matt. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends and special friends, Ron and Judy Nelson. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen; a sister, Elaine and a son, Edward.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for John on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Jude Parish, St. Vincent Catholic Church, corner of Oregon Street and South Park Ave. The Reverend Matt Simonar will celebrate the Mass. Burial with full military honors will follow in Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. in Oshkosh. A parish prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7 pm on Thursday. Visitation will also be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. A memorial fund will be established. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Davis, Dr. Klinkhammer and the Staff at the Michael Wachtel Cancer Center and to Affinity Hospice, Ryan and Heather for the care and concern that was extended to John and his family during his illness.
