Joseph M. Mazza's Obituary
Mazza, Joseph M. passed peacefully in his sleep March 1, 2022 at the age of 90. He is survived by his loving family, Tom (Lori) Mazza, MJ (Larry) Lieberman, Robert(Eva) Mazza and Susan (Neil) Hennes. Adored grandfather of Anthony, Alex, Kennedy, Lily, Emily, Isabel, Sophia and Vincent. Great-grandfather to Giada. Sister-in-law Santa “Sandy”(late Nick) Mazza. Also survived by nieces, nephews, the Kennedy clan and many dear friends. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Mary Jo Mazza, sisters Mary (late Alfred) Griffin, Sarah (late John) Beno, Caroline (late Al) Brulc, brothers Ted (late Lee) Mazza Nick (Sandy) Mazza and Carlo (late Joan) Mazza. Joe was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin in 1931 to Sicilian immigrants Giuseppe Mazza and Josephine Mazza. Joe worked to put himself through school at Marquette University and earned his Ph.D. in speech and communication at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Joe had an illustrious 30 year career as a professor and administrator at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Joe is remembered to this day by students that he mentored who wholeheartedly claim that he is the reason for their success. He was an expert parliamentarian who used his skills to help many organizations manage their meetings. In his retirement Joe enjoyed working side-by-side with his son Bob in Bob’s hobby shop. Visits with his children and grandchildren in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, Charlotte, North Carolina and Eagle River, Wisconsin. Joseph love to build, fix, tinker - when he wasn’t at the casino. Ultimately, Joe and Mary Jo‘s hearts and souls will forever rest at Heart Lake in Conover, Wisconsin. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe’s name may be made to the Titan Diversity and Inclusion Fund with checks payable to the UW Oshkosh Foundation, 625 Pearl Avenue Oshkosh, WI 54901
