Joyce King's Obituary
Joyce Elizabeth Plumtree King joined her beloved husband, Hart M. King, and her son, Hart M. King Jr., in heaven on September 26, 2012 at the age of 91. She was born on March 5, 1921 in Royal Oak, Michigan, the daughter of the late Henry and May Bennett Plumtree. She married the love of her life, Hart M. King, on April 24, 1942 at the First United Methodist Church in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Joyce was a kind and loving person who was greatly admired and loved by her family and friends. She was an avid bridge player, crossword puzzler and very active in her church, Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church. She was passionate about gardening and grew beautiful flowers and vegetables. She was a great cook and loved hosting family holiday dinners and set a beautiful holiday table. Joyce enjoyed watching and identifying birds and loved the newest addition to her household, Oscar the cat.
She is survived by her children Nancy King Martini of Oshkosh, Carolyn King Jarapko of Oshkosh, (Mary) Jane King Reigh (Robert) of Oshkosh and Frederick Hart King of Oak Creek. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren: Jennifer Martini Mayer (Bob) of Neenah, Phillip Joseph Martini II (Angie) of La Plata, New Mexico, Susan Martini Loker (Jeff) of Oshkosh, Ellen Martini Ellefson (Mike) of Madison, Elizabeth Jarapko Lewis (Noel) of Etoile, Texas, David Andrew Jarapko (Dawn) of Wautoma, Sarah Jarapko Fauske (Aaron) of Kaukauna, Stephanie Jane Reigh (fiancée Garrett Michell) of Grand Junction, Colorado, Matthew Carl Reigh (Julian Johnson) of West Bend, Adam Robert Reigh of Oshkosh, Jessica King Markham of Minnesota, Hart Monroe King III of Menasha, Frederick Hart King Jr. of Menasha and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Harrington of Winter Park, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, granddaughter Katherine Joyce Martini, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 3 sisters in law and 3 brothers in law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joyce’s memory can be made to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society or to the Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church in Oshkosh.
A time of sharing memories and honoring Joyce will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church, 1174 Algoma Boulevard, Oshkosh from 10:00 – 11:00. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 with the Pastor Barry Yarbro officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
